July’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One ended on something of a cliffhanger, so when will the Mission Impossible 8 arrive in theaters?

Action movie fans will find everything they could desire in the renowned Mission: Impossible series from Paramount, including nail-biting pursuit scenes, gripping narrative, and mind-blowing stunts that lead actor Tom Cruise personally executed.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two’s anticipated release date is uncertain as of now because of the Hollywood strikes that halted the movie’s development. However, SAG-AFTRA and the studios are currently in talks, which may mean that the strike will soon come to an end.

Dead Reckoning Part Two’s Production Is of Chief Concern

According to a report from The Wrap, resuming production on Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two is a “high priority” for Paramount once the SAG-AFTRA strike reaches a conclusion. Surely an encouraging sign. The outlet also noted that due to the strikes, a backlog of movies that were in production prior to the strikes has accumulated.

When Will Mission: Impossible 8 Release?

When will Mission Impossible 8 truly be released in theaters? It’s hard to say for sure, I suppose. Prior to stopping in July, majority of the filming was already accomplished, according to director Christopher McQuarrie (via Collider), and the current schedule calls for completion at the start of 2024:

It’s a difficult task, and the timeline is constrained. All principal photography is expected to wrap very early in the next year.

The movie would likely have to postpone its scheduled release date of June 28, 2024 due to the loss of more than three months of production time. From there, a date of late 2024 or even 2025 would probably be expected.

In the Mission: Impossible series’ seventh film, Dead Reckoning Part One, Ethan Hunt and his fellow agents from the IMF were on a frantic search for how to control a dangerous, sentient artificial intelligence called The Entity. Hunt ultimately managed to obtain both halves of the AI’s key with the help of his associates after a thrilling action sequence aboard a speeding train. And that’s essentially where the movie ends.

If Hunt decides to accept it, the following adventure will presumably focus on Hunt’s efforts to either seize control of the Entity or annihilate it. In addition to Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell, and Ving Rhames are anticipated to make a comeback in the sequel.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is now available for purchase on digital video-on-demand, while the Blu-ray is out on Tuesday, October 31.
