NCIS Mystery Illness Harming Staff, Cast: Is THIS the Culprit?

“NCIS” might be left crippled soon as its cast and crew members continue to get sick in the past days.

Daily Mail quoted a news outlet’s report saying that a mysterious illness has been targeting several cast and crew members on the show’s set. It reportedly began this week, and at least 18 people had already fallen ill as of Thursday.

The site added that those people show symptoms similar to food poisoning, the exact details a CBS source revealed. Per the insider, the “minor illness” has “mild symptoms.” One show executive disclosed that the “NCIS” team has been holding Zoom meetings to identify what happened to everyone involved. As of press time, the truth about the mystery illness remains unknown. However, the show remains in production despite the health issues.

While the show remains clueless about what truly happened, a Twitter user said that their family has also been experiencing it. However, they did not provide more details about it. One said, “My whole family has been experiencing this. And I saw someone on Reddit ask if folks had been experiencing this. Something is DEFINITELY floating around!”

Is “NCIS” Season 20 Happening?

Amid the health issue the cast and staff members are experiencing right now, questions about the show’s potential renewal still emerged.

Broadcast networks usually release the list of their renewals every March and April on a yearly basis. TVLine confirmed that CBS has ordered more seasons of “Young Sheldon,” “The Neighborhood,” “CSI: Vegas,” and “Bob Hearts Abishola,” among others.

It also approved the renewals of “The Amazing Race,” “Tough as Nails,” “Secret Celebrity Renovation,” and “Survivor.”

While CBS has not decided on “NCIS” future yet, the series’ current ratings might be the main driver to push or pull its renewal.

During Harmon’s run on the series, “NCIS” instantly became the highest-rated drama. During its peak in the early 2010s, its average ratings were around 13 million viewers per episode. On its season 18, it was still able to get 10 million live viewers.

Unfortunately, the number continued to fall since Harmon left the show in “NCIS” Season 19, Episode 4. As of press time, “NCIS” faces its lowest ratings yet since the show began, only having 8.45 million live viewers.

For now, fans and viewers cannot do anything but wait for CBS’ go signal and pray harder that the series would regain its glory.
