Sister Wives season 18 episode 5 saw all the wives comparing notes & discussing the nature of their relationships with Kody after the holiday season.

Christine Brown and Janelle Brown were brought together in Sister Wives season 18 episode 5 to discuss the truth of their relationships with Kody Brown, while Meri Brown and Robyn Brown did the same elsewhere. Things have been difficult for Kody and his remaining wives since Christine left the family during Sister Wives season 17. Kody has been coping with his emotions in a difficult way that has harmed his other relationships, keeping things close to the chest. While he believes Christine has deceived him, Kody’s other wives have done nothing wrong in their own relationships, and he refuses to treat them differently.

With Sister Wives season 18 getting to the bottom of the issues in Kody’s marriages with Janelle and Meri, things have been unraveling quickly. Christine, who moved to Salt Lake City, Utah during the last season of Sister Wives, is still quite involved with the series and often lends an ear to Janelle when she needs it. Meri and Robyn, on the other hand, are still quite more openly pushing their relationships as Sister Wives season 18 continues on. Meri feels displaced, and with Janelle realizing her time with Kody may be up, the episode was full of revelations.

Christine Was Hurt By Kody’s Actions Towards Janelle And Savannah

Christine suggested Janelle make a move after bringing over a beanbag. Christine was eager to question Janelle about her relationship with Kody after she declined the offer. Janelle admitted that Christmas had been difficult for their family, and when Christine discovered that Janelle’s daughter Savannah Brown hadn’t spoken to Kody since her birthday in early December, she was furious. Christine stated her displeasure in an interview section that Kody was isolating Janelle and keeping her in Flagstaff while he wasn’t even talking to her.

In an interview segment of his own, Sister Wives patriarch Kody explained that he felt Janelle was creating a wall between himself and his children. He shared that he wasn’t happy about having to do the work for his relationships with his kids because the phone works both ways and while he was happy to put in the effort, he wanted to see it reciprocated. Kody often neglects the fact that in his relationships with his children, he is meant to be the parent and set the example. Christine, who was visibly angry, explained that she didn’t care if Kody was mad about the situation, saying, “if you’re a dad, you’re a dad. Step up.”

Robyn And Meri Chatted About The Holiday Fallout

Robyn told Meri that she feels disoriented in their family structure because everyone’s decisions have felt strange, pushing for time apart rather than time together. Christine and Janelle’s Christmas preparations were revealed to Meri, who had already been left out, making things difficult for the women. Meri noted that the family has struggled from the beginning, but “not one of us is perfect…[but] I don’t think any of us has done too shabby of a job.” Each of the spouses detailed the family schism when Robyn entered, emphasizing that this was when everything changed.

Janelle Shared Her Thoughts On Her Relationship With Christine

During her visit with Janelle, Christine got to hear about what happened between Janelle and Kody before the holidays. When Christine asked her about her thoughts on the marriage, Janelle answered honestly. “I don’t know,” she explained, “I really don’t know. I’ve decided…I’m not even sure if I’m really interested [in fixing things].” She shared in an interview segment that she wouldn’t be going back to the marriage they had prior, especially recognizing the favoritism Kody had towards Robyn. In an interview segment, Kody explained that his schedule to see his wives only changed because of COVID-19, trying to make it seem like his time with his wives wasn’t already stacked in Robyn’s favor.

Janelle admitted that she wasn’t sure she could divorce Kody, but that she felt detached from him after their confrontation. She mentioned her financial problems, adding that Kody has been pressuring her to have a better relationship with Robyn while disregarding the actual stress she’s been feeling over the money she’s invested into Coyote Pass. Kody clearly appreciates Robyn’s opinion on her fellow Sister Wives, and he’s decided that anyone who doesn’t treat Robyn in the way he believes is correct isn’t worthy of his time or attention. Christine made one last try to convince Janelle to leave Flagstaff, knowing it wasn’t the appropriate moment, but Janelle still had issues to work out in her relationship.

Meri Shared A Secret With Robyn About Her Life With Kody

During their chat, Meri shared that in the past, she’s kept tabs on Kody more frequently than she let on. After realizing that Kody didn’t give equal opportunity to their relationship, Meri began tracking how much time he would spend with each wife and realized her time didn’t even amount to a third of each month. Robyn revealed that she’s done the same with Kody in the past, to varying results. As Kody’s favorite wife, Robyn definitely gets Kody more than any of this other wives, but she still tried to relate to Meri’s story.

Meri revealed towards the end of Sister Wives season 18 episode 5 that it had been a year since her mother died, and that her friend has been running her bed and breakfast, Lizzie’s Heritage Inn, in Utah as she splits her time between Utah and Arizona. Meri chose to go to Utah despite her uncertainty about how it would affect her relationship with Kody or the family as a whole. She explained that no one was aware of her decision, but she wanted to inform Robyn that she’d be spending “more concentrated time” in Utah, despite the fact that she wasn’t really abandoning Kody or the family.
