Always unforgettable! Though the friendship between Terence Hill and Bud Spencer is well known, not many people are aware of how the two legendary actors originally crossed paths. Together, Bud Spencer and Terence Hill starred in numerous motion pictures; as a result, they are well-known worldwide and frequently mentioned as a dynamic duo. For this reason, upon hearing of the passing of his close friend and coworker, the latter began rewriting the film he was working on at the time and ultimately suggested to Bud Spencer.

Terence Hill has visited Hungary several times. During one of his stays here, Story magazine made a report with him, where he talked about his marriage, the background of the making of the film and Bud Spencer, among other things. He also revealed how they met his later good friend.

“Bud was just in the Almeria desert shooting a movie. It was called The Cat, The Dog and The Fox. The works had been going on for a week, when the actor who played the Cat had an argument with his fiancee, he wanted to kick her, but she jumped away and thus hit the wall, which was so unfortunate that he broke his leg. So he couldn’t work anymore, they looked for another actor who could play the Cat, and they chose me.

said Terence, and then he also revealed that he didn’t get to bowl much.

“They said I have to leave immediately because the whole crew is there, every wasted minute costs a lot of money. I had to get to the filming location from Madrid, because there was no airport there, and there wasn’t even a highway, just a dirt road. In addition, they sent me a very old car. We drove twelve hours into the night. When we got there, I was happy to finally be able to rest in the hotel and sleep a little, but the driver said: ‘No, no, they told me I have to take you straight to the shooting location.’I met the crew, two women came towards me, one of them he spread a big towel in front of me and told me to take off my pants. I looked back to see if there was anyone in the desert behind me and changed my clothes. I put on my costume and was told to go.”

Terence Hill continued, then turned to the legendary meeting.

“The director introduced a great man, Carlo Pedersoli. He was Bud Spencer. I was disappointed because I felt very tired, I couldn’t learn the text, and I’m not the kind of actor who can improvise well, I complained that I wasn’t prepared at all, but the director said, no problem, now I just have to fight the Dog. That wrestling started our relationship with Bud Spencer.”

– concluded the legendary Italian actor. The rest is history.
