The Most Contentious Film By Clint Eastwood Has Gained Popularity On Netflix

It may not be to everyone’s tastes, but this explosive Clint Eastwood movie has taken Netflix by storm since it landed on the streaming service recently.

Almost everyone like most of Clint Eastwood’s productions. Usually because he produces incredibly high-quality films. However, American Sniper hasn’t received the kind of widespread acclaim the rest of his filmography has.

Clint Eastwood attempted to analyze the war on terror in American Sniper by adapting Chris Kyle’s true story for the big screen. It isn’t one of Clint Eastwood’s better films, although it does get a poor rap. Let’s not forget about the troublesome themes it explores, as well as Bradley Cooper’s delightfully false baby. Even though the story is difficult, American Sniper does have some stunning visual effects and the critique it makes is still important.

Tackling such a controversial issue as the Iraq War was never going to be easy and was always likely to upset people. The way the film glorifies Kyle, dubbed the deadliest marksman in US military history for his 255 kills during action, doesn’t help matters.

Nevertheless, whether you regard this as one of the best war movies of recent years, or consider it a messy jumble of violence and misplaced idolization, American Sniper is getting something right. At least, if you look at the Netflix charts, it is.

Funny enough, American Sniper is amping up its popularity in the UK, where it is currently among the platform’s top five movies. So, despite all the new content Netflix has to offer this month, this troubling story of American patriotism is making waves across the Atlantic.

Could American Sniper end up ranking as one of the top true-story films? Probably not, but attracting a sizable following on the top streaming platform is always a good thing. Also, keep in mind that American Sniper only received one Oscar, for Sound Editing, while being nominated for six Oscars in 2015.
