Tom Cruise Saves Agent’S Job After She Faces Backlash Over Pro-Palestine Posts

Tom Cruise, the famous actor, has defended his agent Maha Dakhil, who made pro-Palestinian sentiments on Instagram and was asked to resign from her leadership position at talent agency CAA. Maha’s position as co-chief of the motion pictures department was terminated, but she was permitted to be an agent after her client Tom Cruise informed CAA that he supported her.

Tom Cruise reportedly met Maha Dakhil on November 15 at her CAA office. There are reports that Tom ‘took the rare step of going in person to show support for his struggling agent’.

What did Maha Dakhil’s post say?

Top agent at CAA talent agency Maha Dakhil retweeted a few messages on her Instagram stories endorsing Palestine. “What’s more heartbreaking than witnessing genocide?” read one post. observing the denial that any genocide is taking place. Her social media posts generated a lot of interest, and she received harsh criticism. Maha eventually tendered her resignation from the board of the organization after reposting an Instagram photo with the caption, “You’re currently learning who supports genocide.” In the caption, she had written, “That’s the line for me.”

After facing backlash from within the agency and also rival agencies, Maha Dakhil had to delete both images. She even m ade a public apology and said, “I made a mistake with a repost in my Instagram Story, which used hurtful language. Like so many of us, I have been reeling with heartbreak. I pride myself on being on the side of humanity and peace.”

This is not the first incident where Hollywood has reacted harshly to pro-Palestine posts. The Hollywood talent agency UTA dropped Susan Sarandon as a client after she spoke at a pro-Palestine rally recently.

The Oscar-winning actor came under fire for remarking, “There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country,” while attending multiple pro-Palestine demonstrations.

Susan Sarandon urged others to continue speaking out in favor of Palestinians in the Israel-Hamas conflict in statements that were captured on camera.

After posting supportive tweets about Palestine on social media, actress Melissa Barrera was fired from the upcoming Scream sequel. In a post that she posted, Melissa charged Israel with “genocide and ethnic cleansing.” She also posted an article on fabricating “the Holocaust to boost the Israeli arms industry” from Jewish Currents magazine.
