Given that Nicole Kidman is one of Hollywood’s most popular A-list actresses, it is not surprising that her love life has often made headlines. The American-Australian actress has been both a private person and an open book when it comes to the people she loves, beginning with her first marriage to actor Tom Cruise, going on to the whirlwind romances between them, and finally ending with her marriage to Keith Urban.

But there is one actor in particular whom she holds in the highest regard and admiration. During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show with her husband, Kidman was asked about another famous man in her life. And her response was, as you may have guessed, Colin Farrell. Farrell and Kidman have starred in two movies opposite each other (The Beguiled and The Killing of a Sacred Deer). The actors frequently discuss what it is like to collaborate with each other.

Nicole Kidman Called Colin Farrell “An Actor’s Actor”

Nicole Kidman has been extremely complimentary of Irish actor and The Banshees of Inisherin star, Colin Farrell.

The Big Little Lies actress acknowledged that she feels “very protective of him” in an article for Time’s list of the ‘100 Most Influential People of 2023’. Kidman, who is renowned for her work in a variety of film and television projects from different genres, outlined:

“When Colin Farrell and I starred together in the 2017 films The Beguiled and The Killing of a Sacred Deer, I felt like I had found both my knight in shining armour and my partner in crime.”
The actress, 56, continued: “He was very emotionally open with me, and I’m very protective of him. I admire his tenacity, his resilience, and his great sense of humor. He’s got such an Irish kind of sensibility.”

Kidman called Farrell “an actor’s actor” and praised his acting prowess. She added more details as she went along: “He’s not frightened of tone or genre, and he’s very present. Ego is not attached to his performances. You really see that in the longevity of his nearly 30-year-long career.”

Following his outstanding performance in The Banshees of Inisherin, Farrell was nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards. The mother of four kids then added:

“It’s lovely to see someone who’s been so resilient and committed and pure finally being lauded for what he does. He also seems to look younger every year.”

Nicole Kidman Felt Secure Working With Colin Farrell

Nicole Kidman claimed that because Colin Farrell made her feel at ease, it was simple for her to film intimate scenes with him. The 56-year-old actress, who played Farrell’s wife in the psychological thriller, The Killing of a Sacred Deer reportedly stated that the scenes needed to be artistically filmed because they were so important to the story. To quote her:

“I think from the minute (Colin and I) met, I just felt safe, which is always a great place to be with another actor. As soon as I take myself out of the equation, it’s just the storytelling. These particular scenes are very much needed for the relationship. They say so much.”

Meanwhile, The Batman star, 47, stated that performing daring scenes is an integral part of his role as an actor.

“You get through (those scenes) as quickly as you can, while not rushing it at the same time. It’s very much business. “You’re there to tell a story. You’re there to honour the characters that have been written by somebody else and whose voice you are now beginning to adapt to yourself. You hear, ‘Cut,’ and everyone looks away, and you make sure that the person you’re working with has cover.”

On the professional front, Kidman will return to the role of Queen Atlanna in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the follow-up to the 2018 superhero film Aquaman. The film is now slated for release on December 20, 2023, following a number of post-production setbacks and delays brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
